Found 'humour' mark 2

Once again, I'm making my own fun from the extremely unpromising material available. This gem was in the references section of yet another paper on teaching and learning:

"Perry, WG (1970). Forms of intellectual and ethical development in the college years: A scheme. New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston."

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] onebyone and [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin*, I now have a mental image of an imagined Mr WG Perry swallowing a whole pickled onion, swinging on a ropeswing, crossing a ford barefoot and finally, triumphantly, turning a mill wheel with a bunch of drunk friends.

*Inventors of The Scheme at BaCon in Cornwall recently. The first three activities mentioned served to identify suitable people to join The Scheme, and thus participate in the fourth activity.

suitable people

I.e. those possessing the attribute of rank stupidity.

You'll notice the authors carefully avoided using the word "The" in order to avoid this very confusion!
