When you use 'e.g.', you shouldn't use 'etc.' at the end as well -you've already said that you're only giving examples, and implicitly there are more that you haven't stated.
So it should be: e.g. 'eg', 'etc' or: 'eg', 'etc', etc
But given that I actually prefer your version, I'll stop being pedantic ;o)
