Help the stupid - what on earth is this Serenity that my entire friends list seems to be talking about today ? Please assume I am very ignorant about popular culture in any answers :)
Firefly was the cowboys-in-space show that Joss Whedon did after Buffy and Angel*. It was really, really good, and as such didn't even make the end of its first season before it was cancelled. Boo!
But hurrah! They've made a film of it, with the same cast, and if it goes well, they'll make two more.
I can lend you the DVDs of the TV show if you want?
(*I'm assuming that even the terminally ignorant-of-pop-culture have heard of Buffy and Angel, but I can provide you with a potted explanation of those too if necessary ;-)
I was aware of Firefly, and had gathered there was a movie from people talking about "the Firefly movie", but hadn't linked it up as the same Serenity that everyone else was talking about.
I wouldn't recommend lending me DVDs. I don't get around to watching them or giving them back, as a rule. I dunno why, I just never think to watch stuff on TV.
