Miscellaneous pseudo-comments
Jan. 8th, 2003 01:35 pmWhenever I try to post a comment on someone's journal, Mozilla crashes. So, in the absence of ability to comment:
Voratus (who almost certainly doesn't read this): are you sure? I'd really, really, expect it to be the other way round. But I have a primary source I can question, so I'll see what he says.
Leathellin: as a non-albino person, I'm offended at the racism implicit in snowmen ;-)
Kesstrel: congrats!
Nevecat: snap (ish). Bus late. Freezing to death. Get to office an hour later than usual, file server down. For the third day in a row. Finally feel warm again after two hours in an office everyone else says is sweltering.
Everyone: yeah, yeah, we've got snow too. <pause> But it is rather exciting, isn't it? :-) Just wish ours would get on and settle. Except maybe I don't. How sensible is cycling in snow? I don't want to wish myself into another day of getting the bus ;-)

Other comments...
Jan. 8th, 2003 01:55 pmChrestomancy: Useful advice, thanks. I'm doing one course a term for the next two terms, to ease back in, and because one of them is a pre-requisite for later stuff I want to do, although both are at too low a level to 'count' for anything.
Bateleur I: Thanks!
Bateleur II: OK, I know practically nothing about feminist theory, but it seems to me that a girl taking control of her life, and doing the traditional male hero kinda things, rather than moping around in her underwear waiting for a man to save her is reasonably feminist? OK, I haven't read the article yet, so I may be entirely wrong. Or she may have been writing about why Buffy and other vampire fic isn't feminist. The article is here, if anyone wants to go look and post a summary?

Must remember can't post comments. Growl.

That and getting splashed with ice-cold salty slush is just yuck...
Well, I'm not going to cycle ;-) The cyclist in question has special kit for the purpose.
I'd recommend wrapping up warm and taking a book for the bus (oh, and a coffee, if possible)
I do both of those things, but I'm not sure I possess the appropriate clothes to be warm whilst standing still waiting for a bus in the current temperature. I'm aware that such clothes exist, I just don't have them. And there's a limit to how many layers I can fit under my coat <sigh>
alternatively, could you persuade them to let you work from home?
Entirely possible - I often do, depending on whether the work I'm doing is suitable for doing at home. Sadly this is currently not the case. I shall just have to hope that
smiorgan feels more kindly disposed to cycling in snow than you do ;-)
