Automatic mental processes
Apr. 13th, 2003 07:28 pmYesterday morning, waking up not hungover, but tired and headachey in a way that is increasinly common recently, I decided to stop drinking for a while to see if it helped.
This afternoon, the kind of automatic mental processing that we all do all the time, without necessarily involving any thought, went something like this:
- Are you in a pub? yes
no - Are you driving?
yesno - Is it warm and sunny? yes
no - 'I'll have a Kronenberg please'
It was only when the barmaid had finished pulling all the drinks in the round that I remembered yesterday's resolution.
Apart from that little slip-up, the weekend has been one of interesting and fun activity with lots of people I like. But no nail painting, sadly. Maybe next time.
