One of the reasons I haven't read the book is because it is rare to get the situation where quite a big thing like this you can get people who have read the books watchign the film and then get somebody who has not read the books watchignt hem too and able to compare thigns.
Inevitably the fact that you have read the book means you know more about what is going on so you see thigns differently.
An interesting one that came out when I was discussing this was to do with the magic map thing. Lupin seemed to know how to use it which my sources tell me is explained in much more detail in the book. The conclusion *I* came to of why he knew about it is that he used to be a student there and this map is one of those things that gets passed down from student to student and Lupin used to have it. A very different interpretation and one not as nice but one that quite happily lets me keep watchign the film.
