Watery weekend

My weekend was defined by water.

I spent most of Saturday in search of a large body of salt water in which to immerse myself. The water we found in the end was technically estuary rather than sea, and sadly lacking in waves, but was at least salty. If also slightly grim and grotty.

On Sunday, less intentionally, I poured boiling water over my left hand, and, more intentionally, spent several subsequent hours holding my hand under taps, in bags of ice and bowls of water in a (mostly vain at the time) effort to stop it hurting. Now it's only my thumb that still hurts, in a paradoxical numb-but-sore way.

Other news: in six weeks time, it'll all be over.

I think I've escaped blisters and scars, but aloe vera is a good point, and one I hadn't thought of. I used to take aloe vera juice every day as an attempt to deal with my various allergies. Don't recall it working, but that may be to do with the fact that it tasts foul, so I probably didn't actually take it every day ;-) Thanks for the rec, though. I might try and find a plant.

hand: yipe! i'll heartily second the aloe vera recommendations above. it's well worth finding a plant, even a small one, to keep around. just stick it in a sunny windowsill and water once a week or so, and it'll be happy. >:)

can't say the same about your fiance, but you could always try... >;) never fear, things will go smoothly and probably more quickly than you even want them to, and *WHAM! BANG!@!* suddenly you'll be married. yay!

oh, my. technically, i think that means that you were blanched. it's supposed to improve your color whilst maintaining your texture, but personally i wouldn't recommend it.

aloe vera is spooky. it works too well. i don't trust it.

glad to hear that your poached paw is feeling better...
