Have you ever been watching a Batman cartoon and thought the Joker's voice sounded a bit familiar? Well, it should sound familiar... because he's voiced by Mark Hamill. In lots of different Batman cartoon series (Seven of them! I had no idea there were so many, and I've no idea which of them I've been watching.)

Of course, everyone but me and [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan probably already knew this. In which case - damn you all. Why don't you tell me these things?

That is not the father you are looking for!

Er, no, Cardinalsin, no I'm not.
I didn't expect this to come as such a surprise to you. I'm sorry.

Oy! Wrong line.
Since (I think?) I'm older than you, you're obliged to mutter about senility, not delinquency.

OK. Now I'm interested. Which of you is older?

I think that Triskellian was a school year behind me, and is thus somewhere between 1 and 365 days younger than me.

Now you've confused the issue - Daveish was in the year below me, but owing to Irish academic year cut-off-dates being somewhere in June, he is in fact two months older than I am, though neither of us was in the "wrong" year. Trust the perishing Irish to be difficult.

To make it simpler: I was born 31/08/76 :)

Thanks. I only measure people's ages by when they appeared in OURPGSoc...

Ah. In that case I am most annoying, because I only turned up in RPGSoc when I was a third year.

I believe [livejournal.com profile] quisalan did something similar, too.

I'm not Quisalan

But am also guilty of joining in my third year - doubly guilty as this was after a year out too.

I believe you'll find a lot of the cast of the next gen doing cartoon voicing as well. Certainly at least the guy who plays work and the one that plays riker. I think more but they are the two I am fairly definite on.

Michael Dorn (Commander Worf) did indeed do the voices for I am weasel. Bizarre but true...

The interesting thing about Mark Hamill is his total lack of any subsequent parts in films. Well, not the sort worth mentioning, anyway.

Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back wasn't worth mentioning? Okay, it's possible you have a point.

Ah, well. Thereby hangs a tale. Short version, car accident, facial disfigurement (this is why, I think, he looks like he is wearing pancake make-up in Empire Strikes Back - he is. It might further explain the Star Wars Holiday Special - he is possibly full of opiates). He tends to downplay its severity, but it is certainly the case that after he fufilled his contract on Star Wars, he didn't have an onscreen part of note for 6 years. The fact that when he did it was in the uberturkey Slipstream probably didn't help. However, during that time he started as a voice actor, and has become very successful in that field - he's contributed voice to a lot of high-profile animations and video games. Otherwise, he tends to get guest roles in cult/sci-fi Tv shows, where... what's a nice way to put this?

Conventional standards of attractiveness are not so important or so rigidly enforced as in mainstream popular culture?

The fact that he was Luke Skywalker gives him an easy ride?

Ah, the oft rumoured chinese civil service exam - 2 hours. Blank paper. "Write down everything you know"

I wouldn't need two hours for that!

I think the cryptic crossword is a much more elegant version of that exam, and I do it every day!

Good if the examiner is a Taoist, probably less good for Confucians.
