I'm trying to drag myself out of the 'it's cold and dark and I don't want to move any further than the distance between my sofa and my bed' mood I've been in for what feels like forever. And - who'd've thought it? - having fun turns out to be, well, fun!

Oh, so many fun things I've done in the last couple of days!

On Tuesday**, [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan, [livejournal.com profile] metame and I polished off the last of Firefly. We started with the only duff episode (The Message), but finished with Objects in Space, which was lovely. And I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy about all of the characters, and so sad there's no more until September. Or at least, I was hoping it would be September - that's when the movie comes out in the States, and guess what? We'll be in the States in September. But I just checked, and the release date is the 30th. We'll have come home six days earlier.

Yesterday, I saw Kinsey with [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan, [livejournal.com profile] sesquepedality and [livejournal.com profile] metame, and it was really rather good. Liam Neeson and Laura Linney both turned in wonderful performances, and the supporting cast was pretty good, too. The film worked as a portrait of a marriage, and as the story of Kinsey struggling against social censure and lack of funding to complete his research, but the thread I found most fascinating and compelling was the scope of sexual ignorance before his research.

*It's my title. I don't care that [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan stole it, I'm using it anyway.
**Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] killalla. We swapped days at the last moment and for some reason my brain didn't make the necessary connections.
