I'm collecting card names and the letters written on the cards here, cos they're clearly no use without pooling our information.

I'll post here, in an attempt to separate the actual clues from the meta-discussion about what they mean. Plus your clues thread has already passed LJ's definition of "wieldy" :)

[livejournal.com profile] secretrebel had her tracing paper overlay of [livejournal.com profile] bateleur's grid with her yesterday, to show to [livejournal.com profile] metame and me. And any other interested parties (but they weren't!)

Anyway... The black text cards form a four-by-four grid. Adding the blue text cards around them brings this to six-by-six (except for the four corners). Most of the delivered playing cards have 3 letters on them. Some have 4.

There's also a clue for a twenty-by-twenty grid. We then noted that 3 (letters per card) by 6 (cards per row or column) is 18. If there are exactly two four letter cards in each row or column, that brings us to twenty-by-twenty. Whether that's the correct logic, of course, is a different question.

We also observed that in some cases, placing cards of the same value together produces words. eg. K Clubs=AREF; K Spades=OUND (thus "ARE FOUND")
Of course, this may just be coindidence. It'll be easier to tell when we've actually got a full list of the cards.

Yes, I noticed that [livejournal.com profile] ao_lai has the same problem. But that doesn't necessarilly disprove the theory: it may just mean there's an extra four letter card in that row/column to make up the difference.

We won't be able to say with any certainty until we've got at least one completed row or column.
