triskellian: (reading)
[personal profile] triskellian
Have had wisdom tooth removed, and am feeling sorry for myself. I'm only supposed to be eating soft foods, but have sliced a posh Godiva truffle (brought back by [livejournal.com profile] smiorgan from Belgium last week) into thin slivers, and am dissolving them on my tongue. I'm sure that can do no harm, and it's making me marginally more cheerful.

Also have insane piles of reading to do and essays to write, but am ignoring them this evening.

Oh, much sympathy. I had all four removed at the same time, so as to only go through it once.

I don't know if I would have the willpower, even with pain to help, to eat a Godiva truffle so slowly.

I would have preferred that, but instead I had the two on one side done one week, then the other two the next week. It took a lot of muttering quietly to myself to go in to the dentist for the second appointment.

Hope you feel a lot better soon [livejournal.com profile] triskellian!

I think I would have had to be pulled, kicking and screaming, back the second week. Mine did not go well at all, but it wasn't the dentist's fault.

You have my sympathy - it's Not Nice.

Now there's a fine plan! (without the slicing into slivers in my case though) ;-)

Oh dear, sounds all ouchy.
On the other hand a tub of ice cream probably counts as soft food. So does mashed potato - mmm potato :-)

Exactly. My abiding childhood memory of dentist trips was that if a tooth was extracted the dentist issues an ice lolly from a freezer kept for that purpose.

Ice cream, more ice cream and cheesy mashed potato!

I seem to recall the worst part being the prohibition agains smoking, so as not to suck the scab out and create "dry socket." Sitting around without the motivation to do much, and not being allowed to smoke . . .

Ignoring work in favour of cheering yourself up sounds exactly right. I had one removed on the 9th, and the fourth and final one is coming out on 30th.

Hope you heal up soon :-)

I remember how miserable that was. Get well soon and rest assured - your face will return to it's usual shape shortly. I went through a fortnight of lopsided hamster-cheek hell.

Do let me know if you want visitors/supplies/more sympathy.

I take it you've finished the cardigan then?
Hugs,
A.
