I have just finished my first proper knitted-to-a-pattern lace socks. Hoorah!

Baudelaire purple lace socks

Sock-knitting is widely reputed to be addictive; it's possible I have succumbed: I'm plotting which pattern to make next (space invader socks! How cool is that?!), and which of many gorgeous available sock yarns I should buy...

Clearly compared to some people I am barely geeky at all. ;-)

(The subtitle on that knitting site is one of the worst puns I've ever, btw. And I say this despite having lived with Mr Jackson for several years.)

Once upon a time, I dreamt of a scarf.

Over the years, I came to realise the dream was both trivial and futile. Sniff, sniff.

By some sinister coincidence, I had a dream about you knitting said scarf last night... only it seemed to be turning into some kind of frightful, lilac, floral cushion cover.

They untangled nicely then. :D

Very lovely, and purple. Hoorah!

oh pretty!!!

it strikes me that this would be a relatively easy route to cashmere socks, since that wouldn't take a lot of yarn, right? and cashmere socks!

Oh, lovely!

I can recommend the Elfine socks, which are my current bus knitting - the lace is remarkably straightforward, and I was astonished to realise last night that in a week I've managed to get up to the heel of the first one!

They look very fine, as do the space invader socks, which also look like they could be a lifetimes work

They aren't that bad - first sock took a weekend of watching tv, listening to radio and knitting. I fear the second sock will take take longer, mainly due to lack of knitting time now.

Wow, those are very cool socks.

And space invaders! Yay!

If they turn out a success, you should so go for Pacman! ;)

Very cool! Now you need a matching long-haired ball.

And how long did they take?

Space Invader socks are worth learning to knit for!

Hee - I'm on sock two of the BMP socks. They are Not For Me, but are very cute, and so I might make another pair one day.

Do you have any idea how to make short-row heel/toe socks not look like giant bags? There's no instep shaping at all :-/

I think I will, though perhaps after their recipient gets them! I have sooooooooo many FOs I've not got round to posting, mainly because I can't use the camera (technology passed me by).

I think perhaps SR socks are just inherently flawed. That and I have teenyfeet.

Such purpleness! :D

Are you wearing them today? They look lovely. I really like the color.

I've never knit socks. One day I will, I'm sure.

I am trying out a Möbius scarf from Cat Bordhi's A Treasury of Magical Knitting. It's pretty neat the way it works.
