Summer and dyeing

I am lying in the garden in the sun, talking to the cats and the smiorgan as they wander past living their lives, and opccupying myself by idling on the internet, writing a roleplaying game, thinking about knitting, and considering just closing my eyes for a moment... :-)

And my hands are purple from my second yarn-dyeing experiment, which is at this moment in the oven, baking its colour in. The first experiment was shades of green on cream base wool, and my mother, for whom it was a gift, seemed very happy with it when I gave it to her (in the shape of a bag) yesterday. This experiment is reds and blues and purples, and is for me, but the base wool is grey, which might be too dark for it to work. Still, what's the point of an experiment if there's no risk? It's been summer for, ooh, about a week so far :-) I'm currently hoping it will stay until the end of the bank holiday weekend, so our aims coincide!

What are you going to make with the purple?

Yeah, it seems perverse to use Vox when I've got a permanent LJ account, I know. But Vox is much better at integrating different kinds of content, which for me mostly means pictures and books. And there are all kinds of good reasons to have it be separate from my LJ.

Not sure what to do with the purple yet, or even if it's actually going to be purple (it's still wet, so possibly darker than it will eventually be), but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

What colours did the wool eventually go?

It's dark, so they're not well-defined, but I, at least, can definitely see red and purple in there. I might post a pic when it's dry and balled up :-)
