Dresses etc
Sep. 6th, 2003 07:01 pmApparently it's generally necessary to buy wedding dresses a size, or even two, larger than usual. This makes no sense to me. If anything, I'd expect it to be the other way round, so brides can go 'ooh, it's such a lovely dress, and it's a size <whatever>!' Of course, people making clothes which claim to be standard sizes but aren't seems crazy anyway.
I forgive them a bit though, because browsing in a wedding dress shop (as I did this morning with
blondeccgirl) is so unlike browsing in any other clothes shop. We were made cups of tea and we had a dedicated person with us the whole two-ish hours we were in the shop, and she fetched dresses, helped us put them on (actually necessary for many of them), pinned the ones that were too big, and held together the ones that were too small. The whole excursion was only in the name of research, because we're probably making dresses rather than buying them, but she didn't seem to mind the fact that we didn't spend any money ;-)
In other wedding-related news, I now have an item of sparkliness on my finger. I apologise in advance to the people who will get bored of me going 'Sparkle!' at them over the next few days/weeks ;-)
