(no subject)

I'm typing this sitting on my bed, with my lovely new laptop. There are no wires connecting my lovely new laptop with any part of our increasingly sprawling network. The whole thing, including installing software, and a fair amount of sitting looking at it going 'Wow. It's so pretty' took about an hour.

Does this mean you've got a Wireless Ethernet PCMCIA card in it, or that it's not networked ?

Neither. It means I have an Airport card in it. Umm. I guess that might be a type of Ethernet XYZABC card, but this is a Mac. I don't understand these things.

Apple need to get a life. OK, so 802.11 doesn't exactly trip off the tongue, but that's no excuse for renaming your technology after an 80's pop song.

Oh, shush. It's a name which is easy to say, it makes sense, it's dead easy to set up (*I* did it. All on my own) and the hardware is beautiful. So shush ;-)

I was under the impression that I knew what an airport was, and that you couldn't fit one in a laptop.

Other than that, though, yes, I'm shushing now. Completely shushed, as of this moment. There.
