Thank you to everyone who came to the party. I had a fabulous time, and I hope you all did too ;-)
Our entire house is full of glitter, thanks largely to
uitlander and Frances (who was also attacking people not sufficiently shiny or sparkly and rectifying the situation).
blondeccgirl was doing a similar job with glitter hairspray.
Toby P wore a T shirt he'd customised with glitter pens, reading 'Congratulations Liz and Ralph' and 'ES 4 RL'.
bibliogirl and
rotwang wore shirts that were both shiny and sparkly. Matthew N wore tinsel on his shirt, although I think the tinsel was later turned into a halo worn by
onebyone.
ealuscerwen and
kauket both looked impossibly glamourous, as usual. Rob and J-P provided comedy sparkliness, and there were at least two leather-clad bottoms, which can't be a bad thing ;-)
lathany was betting we'd reach 80 people in our little house. I thought she was wrong, but by much more than she turned out to be: at the height of the party we were probably 60 - most of my favourite people, including dear friends I see only rarely, and new people for everyone to meet (except
smiorgan, who knew everyone).
verlaine formed a cabal of librarians on the landing with George, Amelia and Gemma, and although every time I passed they were talking libraries, they swore they talked about other things in between times.
We've acquired a small mountain of champagne, lots of pretty cards, a giggling fish, some "astronaut rations", Lush stuff, a chocolate bottle and miscellaneous other cool - and alcoholic - things. Not to mention a green box overflowing with empties, a coat belonging to Arthur Boff (which
smiorgan is returning as I type), and a bottle of Chateau Lovegrove '81 from a very particular region of the world ;-)
There were serious discussions on the relative fanciableness of members of the Buffy cast, where the conclusion was - inevitably - that everyone would shag Willow at at least one point in the show's history, and most people were well up for Spike and Oz as well (although it's possible that by 'most people' I just mean Mike and me. I forget). It now occurs to me that we forgot Faith, but I'm sure we'll make up for that another time. Apparently, equally serious discussions concerned the worth of the various Doctor Whos, but since I'm too young to usefully contribute to that, I can't report the conclusions.
kauket and
blondeccgirl needed constant restraining on the subject of strippers. I knew introducing them was a bad idea ;-)
secretrebel, I'm relying on you. Don't let me down!
