Surprise!

On my way home from work, I had a text from blondeccgirl asking if I was at home this evening, and could she visit. I had no plans, so naturally I replied that she could, and asked if she was OK (I dunno about you, but a surprise text from a friend who lives an hour and a half away, asking to visit, sounds like a sign of trouble to me). She said she was, but I didn't entirely believe her.

Half an hour after she was supposed to arrive, there was a bang on the door. I went to answer it, prepared to shout "We've got a bloody doorbell, y'know", when I realised that the first of the three people standing in front of me was C, who, as far as I knew, was in another hemisphere until January. She'd come home without telling anyone, and was springing surprises on everyone she knew in turn. blondeccgirl had apparently been desparately trying to contact smiorgan to enlist his help in making sure I was at home, so I wouldn't even expect her.

It doesn't feel like almost a year since I saw her last.

... I think you should chastise smiorgan for not checking his phone or email - he's a bad boy. it would have been an even better surprise if you had no idea we were coming!
