Shiny!

Partially on a whim, smiorgan and I went into Dixons this afternoon, and came out with a digital camera. In the way of new toys, it's very shiny indeed (in both the normal and Kaylee* senses of the word), and is especially shiny in association with my beloved laptop - we introduced them, and within seconds they were chatting away happily like old friends. No software, no drivers, nothing, and the puter knew straightaway that this new USB peripheral was a camera, and asked me if I wanted to launch iPhoto. Hooray!

*Kaylee from Firefly, like me, often uses 'shiny' to refer to something cool**, regardless of how reflective its surface is.

**People in general, like me, often use 'cool' to refer to something they like, regardless of temperature.

Fuji S3000, which does everything we want it to do, and cost less than we were expecting. Hurrah!

(Hurrah especially since I'm prone to setting a budget and then finding extra features I want as an excuse to go a bit over budget, and then if I'm already going a bit over budget... You get the idea ;-)

Is that the model with the 6x optical zoom ? If so, that's the one I've been thinking of getting (to replace my dead Olympus one) ! You'll have to let me know how you get on with it.
