Obligatory gay marriage post
Feb. 20th, 2004 11:48 pm(But lacking the rainbow flag, to avoid
onebyone's 'meme'-filtering-eye skimming over. And not because I can't be bothered to go and copy the code. No.)
I'm getting married in September (yes, you all knew that already, because I go on about it all the time). I'm able to do this because the person with whom I want to spend the rest of my life happens to have genitals that are shaped differently from mine. Our wedding guests will include people in relationships just as committed and long-term as ours, who are not able to get married because their genitals happen to be the same shape. This saddens me, and, contrary to the claims of those who oppose equality in marriage, it weakens the whole institution for me.
