Despite being a sufferer, I thought this was funny:

"Perhaps Macintosh owners are collectively suffering from Stockholm Syndrome"

(from this Reg article comparing the Microsoft and Apple monopolies).

Yesterday I installed the new Windows version of Apple's iTunes music player.

Microsoft sort of have a point in that it is extremely proprietary as it only really supports basic mp3 and Apple's own version of AAC. However, the hypocricy of Microsoft complaining about monopolistic behaviour doesn't really need further comment.

On the plus side iTunes really is very slick. It's certainly the easiest to use music player I've yet found for Windows. It is striking how much simpler (but still functional) the user interface is compared to the other music players that I've tried.

OSNews reviewed it using a dual celeron 533 MHz, and said it was too slow to be usable.

Think I'll stick with Freerip and Grip.

Dual celeron - double the crapness

Probably because it tries looking like a computer application whose window can be as large as your desktop. Rather than some skinnable bitmap abomination that tries looking like a hi-fi unit.
